Bee bread, also known as pollen bread, is a bee product. This product is formed through the fermentation of pollen collected by worker bees. It is also known as 'baby bee food' as it serves as a nutrition source for larval bees.
More than 200 microorganisms are involved in the production of bee bread, which is fermented by worker bees. Since flower pollens contain different vitamins and minerals, these nutrients are present in bee bread as well. It notably includes vitamins A, B, D, F, and K. Additionally, important minerals like potassium and iron are also part of its composition. Bee bread, rich in vitamins and minerals, also contains components such as amino acids, carbohydrates, enzymes, and pigments. With all these features, it is observed to offer a rich nutritional profile.
Due to its solid form, bee bread is suitable for consumption by chewing. This product is suitable for both adults and children and can be consumed by adding it to foods such as yogurt, milk, and fruit juice. However, different quantities are recommended for adults and children. The recommended consumption is 6-12 pieces for adults and 3-6 pieces for children.
